Here I am trying Nirvana - About a Girl. It's a little pitchey on the vocals in some spots, but it's one take and I only learned in on Monday. So, into to fire!

> The Girl From Ipanema
... is a well-known bossa nova song, a worldwide hit in the mid-1960s that won a Grammy for Record of the Year in 1965. It was written in 1962, with music by Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Here we are!
I decided to take out one of my gadgets for this. I used a Varichord capo on my Blueridge 160. The Varichord can be used to access open tunings without having to retune. Here's what a Varichord looks like:
The tuning I used in the song is, from low to high: EAEADG
The song is titled 'Pinède'. I wrote it in approximately half an hour an hour ago.

Ok.... First, My Submission for this month's VOM1T:
Song: Sincera Confesion
Author: Erasmo Diaz
Link: http://vom.infocusreviews.com/index.php?p=play&id=orbm1/Sincera_confesion.mp3
(I wanted to upload it to the VOM server but was unsuccessful)
This is a Peruvian Vals (originally in 3/4 signature)... I made a "jazzy" (4/4) arrangement...
This time there is no guitar.... the voice is one take (a little bit of pitch problems), added a little bit of comp and reverb.... the rest of the instruments were revamped in my humble studio using Live and exporting from Band in a Box 2009.5 (and they say Band in a Box sounds bad!)
This time I am writing the translation of the lyrics....
Sincera Confesion (Sincere Confesion)
Amar, sin pedir nada a la vida (love, without asking life for nothing)
Desgastado mil heridas, asi yo, te quiero a ti (speding thousand wounds, it is how, I love you)
Con fe, en la luz de tu mirada (with faith, in the light of your stare)
en tu voz, en tu palabras, se ha quedado mi querer (in your voice, in your words, my love has remained)
Talvez, si he llegado a conocerte (Perharps, if I have met you)
y en mi afan por adorarte (and trying to adore you)
me olvide de la ilusion (I forgot of the ilusion)
Perdon si he escondido una caricia (Forgive me, if I have hidden a caress)
una frase, una sonrisa a tu ansioso corazon (a phrase, a smile to your anxious heart)
Perdon si he escondido una caricia (Forgive me, if I have hidden a caress)
una frase, una sonrisa a tu ansioso corazon (a phrase, a smile to your anxious heart)
Quiero vida que comprendas (I want you, my love, to understand)
que nuestro cariño (that our love)
es tan puro como el alma (is as pure as the soul)
de inocente niño (of an innocent child)
Que yo soy solo de ti, (that I am only yours)
y que tu eres para mi (and that you are for me)
la vida, la luz y el amor. (the life, the light and the love)
Sax solo....
Quiero vida que comprendas (I want you, my love, to understand)
que nuestro cariño (that our love)
es tan puro como el alma (is as pure as the soul)
de inocente niño (of an innocent child)
Que yo soy solo de ti, (that I am only yours)
y que tu eres para mi (and that you are for me)
la vida, la luz y el amor. (the life, the light and the love)
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks![]()

This is against my better judgment, but since I've been absent the last 2-3 months here's a version of Bach's Air on the G String. The background is this - I have a 6 week old daughter (our first) and haven't touched my guitar much these last 2 months. But my mom is visiting this week and babysat while the wife and I went out for a date night. After a night of sushi and sake, we got home and I volunteered to take the 9pm to 1am shift with the newborn. I decided to see if the baby likes a bit of guitar music and started playing some slow tunes, then turned on the Zoom Q3 and recorded this (sound only). It's a true one-take, with a fair amount of sake thrown in. If you listen closely you might hear a baby whimpering in the background (probably about the out of tune guitar).
Oh, and this is on the awesome VOM site's hosting service, so another big thanks to all those great people behind the scenes who make this happen. Meanwhile, I'm off to hope for maybe 4 hours of sleep.

I couldn't sing the lead vocals because it's much too low for me!
I used my beloved Larrivee OM-03 . Also, a Honer Blues Harp in C (but I don't really know how to play the little bugger!)
