Here's my submission for this month. John Eddie is a lesser known folk rock singer-songwriter. He probably best known for a song called Low Life that was covered by Kid Rock. The song I'm covering is more from his sensitive side, as he puts it.

Thought twice about posting this one, but WTF. The song is "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye," by Soft Cell. I have never heard the original version and am only familiar with David Gray's cover. I'm not used to using a pick, and about five or ten seconds into this I lost my grip and was plagued by a very self-conscious effort to hang onto the thing all the way through...

Well, by my clock it's almost closing time ... but you know what? If it's still Second Sunday where you live, keep posting. Even it's a bit past Second Sunday and Monday Morning is blinking its bright eyes in your face ...

post 'em if you got 'em!

The mic is still on if you need it ...

And believe it or not - at this point - Everything is listed at both the HCAG and MelodyVine as well as in the archive site.

I will get the streamer going tomorrow.

The compatibility issues resulting from the change over is going to require some legwork with the search function to locate threads for cross reference as well as member codes. If anyone has some free time and if handy with the search box, I could use a couple of volunteers to help me do cross referencing for the conversion. hit me up at vom.archives@infocusreviews.com if you can help.

Joe, I've got a pretty hectic week -- but I'm sure I can find some time to pitch in.

Due to the Beta stuff, we probably need to have a pow-wow and talk over some stuff.

I Said it over there, but it's worthy of repeating here (in 'normal-land') - A great big 'Thank you' to Joe and Chris for the obvious effort they put into making VOM the great experience that it is and especially during this month's trying times.......thanks a bunch guys!

wheww!!!! quite a ride this morning for a tech-avoider, but melodyvine made it easy. efff harmony central. they are diagnosing my connection problems right now. like they are my problems, not theirs. melodyvine just in time.

although written several years ago and recorded last year, this song was specifically for my mamma. the consumerism cynicism likely comes from my broke status at the time. all i had was a song. give some love to all the mothers today...pg

could've bought you a card

i guess i could've bought you a card
but that wouldn't be from the heart
i could've spent twenty minutes finding something
that says it almost right
straight from hallmark
to brighten up your life
but that just won't do it this time

let me tell you
don't expect me to mail you
i'll say it myself this time

i love you
i been thinking of you
i've loved you all my life

well i thought about getting you somthing really nice
somthing that proved i paid a high price
i could've got you some flowers, a dress,
or a big ruby ring
with an inscription on the back
tell you what i mean
but that just won't do it this time

let me tell you
don't expect me to mail you
i'll say it myself this time

i love you
i been thinking of you
i've loved you all my life

i love you
i been thinking of you
i've loved you all my life

Good morning ladies and gents. This morning I bring you Steve Earle's "Fort Worth Blues", played on my '94 HD 28. This is a true 1 take recording with no editing. I did one rehearsal for levels and to warm up, and then hit the record button.

This guitar has no pickup, so I mic'ed it with the AKG Perception 220, which is a large diameter condenser, at the 12th fret. The vocal was recorded with an AKG 451, close mic'ed. Mixed in Logic Express, not much processing, a little EG, compression and reverb.

Enjoy!
